extremly low aircraft..any ideas how to find out?

g/f reported back to me there was a very low aircraft over where she works , wondered if theres anyway to suss what it was out of intrest (either a hercules or lancaster according to her lol)

around 6.10pm monday 11th at cb97hd

Presumably this means it had 4 engines and propellers, and some green paint.

Not that far from Mildenhall or Lakenheath so my guess it's a USAF Hercules of some sort.

They usually only show civilian traffic.

It was a C130J, callsign Ascot 103 flown by 47 Squadron based at RAF Brize Norton. They took off from Brize Norton at 1630 and did a large anticlockwise loop of the London area as illustrated by the thick purple line on the picture. They would have been flying at 250' above the ground. Hope that satisfies your girlfriends' questions!

I'd say it's too high!!

Certainly in rotary it's not uncommon to be cleared to ground level/50ft but the standard is 100ft generally I always enjoyed going past people's Houses at 50ft and giving a wave.

250ft is generally considered the minimum for fixed wing. The benefit of going low is the enemy have less time to aim at you.

But no enemy in the UK? The crews still have to train
