LH wing mirror glass for 1984 Carrera
Discussion
Hi, can anyone suggest a source for the part please? I can find the whole wing mirror for sale, I can find the mirror attached to the "swiveling" unit but I can't find just the glass. Mrs Aitch will have a fit if I have to spend £75+ because a piece of mirrored glass came away from the sticky pads.
Thanks in anticipation

Looks like more than just the glass though.

I have a spare glass for both wing mirrors somewhere in my workshop. I can't guarantee the condition, or even if I can find it just yet, but if I do I'll post up a photo. If you want it then, providing you're in the UK, I'll stick it in a jiffy bag to you if you donate a tenner to Macmillan.
I went through a few racing. I got the mechanic to fax one to a local glass place so they had the exact shape to replicate. Seemed a great idea until I collected it and found that fax machines reduce size by 10%!! The flat glass wasn't ideal either.
I later went to a trade car parts warehouse and found that a Saab 9-3 mirror glass would fit in the housing, with the advantages of filling it more (hence more mirror within the same housing) and having a convex end (reducing size of blind spot), the only disadvantage was that it wasn't as uniform of a shape as the original so there was a varying gap between the glass edge and the housing. For 5 quid it was well worth it, and I carried spares.
I still have one, I would rather hang to it, but PM and I'll try to dig it out and check on which years it was for (I think the only choice is either <2003 or >2003), but you could always find an eBay seller with free returns and order both to try.
