Tiguan spare key

Hi lost the spare key on my Tiguan so got a new one from the VW dealer. Then I found the original spare and thought at least I have another spare until I tried it. Does not now work, I assume that the dealer has changed the code on the car and recoded the one key that remained. Is it now another trip to the dealer to get the original spare recoded, any help would be appreciated.
