Hi, does anyone know the size of the square exhaust flange that goes between the downpipe and cat on a ls1(Hsv)vxr, I used paste to join but was not good enough, thanks Gary

Exhaust paste is a no-no pre cat, as it can break off and start blocking the cells - best to clean off asap!

The best thing to use on an exhaust is silicon sealant yes the same as the stuff thats used round the bath. It stays flexible even in the extern heat of the exhaust. I am fitting exhausts every day and I have never had a problem with it. Forms a good seal and if and when you need to take the exhaust apart it separates quite easily unlike exhaust paste

not sure silicone sealant is all that good, apparently it will damage the o2 sensors which then skews the AFR and ruins the cat.
