I've had my 987S for a few days now, and it is in remarkable condition for a car that's coming up for 8 years old. Apart from a little scuffing on the ashtray lid, I can only find 2 things wrong with it:

The diver's side airvent direction control has come apart. The vanes move side to side, but not up and down. The lever just flops down. Plenty of posts about this happening, but can't find a definitive guide to fixing it.

The "orientation light" LED next to the interior light switch doesn't work. I assume it should light up as soon as the headlights are turned on?
Is there a DIY guide to fixing it?

Its well worth joining the planet 9 forum which is more cayman focussed and searching their threads and articles over there as they have a ton of stuff that people have contributed that is very useful when it comes to fixes and such like

It's quite easy to take the vent out (search google) then you'll see a little lever arm that can come unclipped from the side. Only viewable when it's removed. Someone has probably had a phone clip in the vent in the past.

I couldn't remove the complete vent, as I was unable to release the top clip. I managed to refit the forked part to the back of the slider, so it's working again.
I also discovered that the orientation LED is actually working - tried it last night. I guess it only comes on when it's dark?

Another niggle today. Righthand side front cooling fan coming on at full speed (very noisy). Seems to be a pretty common problem, left fan not turning at all. Quick prod through the wheel arch liner, left fan starts working, right fan now operating correctly. Fix courtesy of planet 9. As mentioned above, a great resource!
