Speedometer

My speedometer works but the mileometer/ odometer and trip does not ,Its difficult because my insurance company wants the mileage and its probably illegal to just leave .

Could it be a loose connection ?

help please .

Digital of mechanical?
If mechanical...tadts and it's stuck...Hit it, reverse very fast and other such wives tails sometimes cure it.
If it's digital, them the internal battery is dead. It's flat non rechargeable disc battery retaining its memory...requires disassembly to get inside to replace it.

the mechanical version on my car stuck at 81000 for a few days then started working again after I reversed the car off the drive.

Worryingly "daz" comes up as "dad" on my spellchecker - but that's another story!!

If it's mechanical and stuck on xx999 a good thump on top of the dash will free it up. Give it a bash, but don't use a hammer!!

The tripometer works when it feels like it after i zero it, give it a tap but the mileometer as not worked for two years .

Its the mechanical Caerbont gauge .

Mine (the early digital odometer) has reverted back to 0 miles every time the ignition has been switched off for the last five years ... the MOT has never even commented on it!

Unbelievable, been out for a hoon in the sunshine, was going to celebrate 50k on the clock (that'll be 18.5k since I became beastie's custodian), and the mileyometer has stuck on 49,999.... Must be Daz's fault....

Oh well, another low mileage example in the making
