Well i hope thats what there called, sorry if there not. The little metal up rights. Does any one know are they coated with any thing. I want to clean them as mine have got a few traces of white powder starting to appear, Can you clean them with brasso etc. Any ideas welcome.

No, they're just plain old aluminium alloy. They're not lacquered, hence the aluminium oxide which forms after a while.

I clean mine with Autoglym metal polish, then give them a coat of normal wax polish to keep the corrosion at bay.

IIRC they are anodised ally! This is a chemical skin, the white powder is aluminium oxide, it's the equivalent of rust on steel.

You will be able to polish it, but you will have to remove the anodise coating first. Just keep rubbing away with metal polish (Solvo Autosol works well).

Or you could save yourself a lot of effort and wipe off the white powder and rub them over with a smear of Vaseline.

I polished these on my old Griff with AutoGlym metal polish and they looked great, but once the coating is off, they need polishing more often!

The other warning is mask off the leather / vinyl door cappings at the base of the frames when you do polish. The dirty polish residue will stain.
