Swirl pot questions
Discussion
Evenin all ! ..... Why do we need a swirl pot, whats it for ? Anyone swapped for a new one, where from , how much. So its tank, swirl pot,pre-filter,pump,post-filter,lines,see thru filter in engine bay, injectors, pressure reg, return line to tanks. Is that it or have i missed anyting........ta
Yep, sounds about right
The swirl pot is intended to de-aerate the fuel so there are no air bubbles in it before the fuel pump chucks it up front. In some ways it's a poor implementation as (a) the design means there's not much swirling going on and (b) ideally it'd also take the return line from the fuel rail. On the Wedge it just collates both tanks, has a small internal mesh filter (that you obviously can't get at to change) and provides a path for any stray air bubbles to get back into the left-hand tank.
You could probably throw it away and just have a T-piece in there with a blank on the air bleed and never notice any difference.
