Heater controls

Been trying to work out what vents do what .

Should i get cool and hot air out of the vent type adjustable grills on each side and two in the middle behind the window switches .nothing come out of mine .

I know where the air comes out at low level in the footwell on the passenger side but where does it come out on the drivers side? . I have a round grill which only works from a cool air switch .

The screen vents work perfect warm and cool .

Mines a 400 95/M and I get hot/cold out the passenger grill in the dash, hot/cold air into the footwell from the vent from the heater box ... I get cold air from the drivers grill in the dash and the eye ball vent in the drivers footwell on the RHS .. I get hot/cold from the vent in the drivers footwell on the LHS that's the same type of vent as in the heater box on the passenger side ... I don't have any central vents .. a mate had the central vents on his 96/N and they gave hot/cold air ..
My drivers side dash and eyeball vents work from the separate fan switch on the rhs under the dash ..

Thanks i get nothing from the dash vents ,maybe a pipe as come off .

I can`t see anything wrong but i have no air warm or cold coming from the foot well or louver vents on the bottom dash

Any ideas ?

Not really, the louvered vent on the passenger side is in the heater box itself so provided the fan is blowing, air should come out of that one unless the direction flap is not moving and is only directing air to the screen?, in which case the cable from the heater control wheel may not be connected or the flap is stuck in the screen position ..

I understand it that the drivers side vent on the LHS of the footwell is fed by a pipe from the heater box... I have a slight issue with mine in that when the fan is on I can feel air coming out from the heater controls and if I put my hand up where the heater box is there is air flowing all around so I think i have a hole or split pipe somewhere possibly in the screen pipework and the air is leaking and going up into the dash area but I still get air from the vents .. good luck ..

Check that the heater control cable is fitted into the valve in the passenger footwell, it's located in the upper left hand side

I can get cold air via the switch under the steering wheel which were fitted on early cars but the heat from the engine only gives warm air .The pipe travels at the back of the plenum .

I wonder how the heater blower box is piped into the same vent .

Just checked the heater controls ,when the wheel is turned, 90% of the air stops coming out the top screen vents so the valve must be working .

The vent that works with the switch under the steering wheel only does cold air, the air comes from the drivers side wing, on mine it feeds the eye ball vent in the footwell and the vent in the lower dash ... if your not getting enough heat from the other vents it could be the heater valve that you can see next to the heater box ... it may not be opening up fully and is restricting the water flow even though the heater control is moving all the way across from cold to hot..

The screen vents are very hot and fully controllable . Does the cold air supply from the three speed switch have a separate motor ? Does only cold air come through that vent and left side of the drivers side ?

If that vent in the drivers foot well only supplies cold air ,where is the other positioned ?

On mine there is a 3 speed fan switch to the right of the steer column and there is a vent in the lower dash near the door glass/ash tray and there is a eye ball vent in the footwell on the RHS down near my right foot and they only supply cold air..I can't reach it from the drivers seat i have to get out the car and reach into the footwell to open/close it.. it has a separate blower .. The hot/cold air comes from a vent on the LHS footwell in line with my left knee which I can reach .. this is blown by the 3 speed fan switch that is in the dash next to the heater controls and is part of the screen/footwell system ..

So there are two outlets in the drivers side foot well . one hot or cool controlled by those two wheels and the one on the right cold only .
