996 Turbo Tip Fluid Leak
Discussion
Hi All, I have a 2001 996 Turbo Tip it has developed a leak from the joint between the transfer box and the gearbox. This problem is well documented on this and other forums. I have traced a source for the gaskets. I now need someone to do the repair. I am based in Edinburgh, I am aware of "Automotive Automatics" in Leith, however there is some negative comments about them on the net.
Does anyone know of someone trustworthy that can do this repair without ripping me off.
Any help/info appreciated.

I don't know of anyone in Edinburgh specifically, but I would have thought any Porsche independent rather than a gearbox specific workshop would do a good job.
I had the same thing about 1 year ago, and it was £1000 in round numbers, mainly labour in dropping the engine.
If its any help I have a spare unused gasket I obtained from USA, which you could have at a discount. It was for a 997.1 Tip. but I am sure the gearbox is the same as the 996
