VXR8 went Bang, loss of power, then okay... whats going on?

Mrs Wolfracer was driving, so can't add anything to the description.
She said she heard a bang, then the car wouldn't accelerate. At the next junction it cleared itself and she set off as normal.
When she told me I thought she had bust the diff, but that doesn't appear to be the case. It drives absolutely fine now.
Any ideas?

My guess is that she was at the lights, didn't engage first gear properly, it pops out of gear with a bang when the lights go green, she tries to accelerate but she's revving in neutral She said she heard a bang, then the car wouldn't accelerate. At the next junction it cleared itself and she set off as normal.
