To help the PH'ers contributing to the 11 page marathon thread on GT3 v GT4 (yet to be driven) let's have a vote on where people currently think they'd like to be sitting (money aside)!

RS versions have been omitted as it's a GT3 v GT4 thing. biggrin

997.1 for me as the 3.6 Mezger lump is the nuts, oh and I've got one already and would not swap for a brand new GT4 Cayman.

Bit unfair including the 991 GT3. The GT4 is a very fair comparison to all the others but the 991 is in a different price bracket. Ignoring the 991 it's GT4 for me (find out in a few months smile )

GT4 is a very nice proposition but in a different league than the GT3 because of the engine.

Manual GT4 RS with the 9k rpm DFI engine ... pretty please ...

No surprise the current PH voting is very tribal!

Spot the 6.1, 7.1 and GT4 boys backing their toys. biggrin

Money aside, would you prefer to have something that costs £115,000 or something that costs £70,000? wink

They were all expensive in their day though if you factor in inflation!

Evo quotes the price of the 997 GT3 in 2007 (inflation adjusted for today) as:
997 GT3 Base: £79,540 (£102,822.95)
997 GT3 as tested: 93,124 (£120,383.26)

991 GT3 Base: £100,540 (from Porsche UK site today)

It's pretty bloody obvious that people are voting for their own car.

There's no way anyone being impartial/objective would vote for a 997.1 over a 997.2

Agreed, this poll should just be a choice between the GT4 and 997.1 GT3 (both are around the same price currently too)

don't people vote when they go and buy the car they want hence voting for their own car !
people don't buy cars and keep them if they don't want them do they ?

you voted I take it but still no 996.2 GT3 votes yet !

thing is if you bring money into it and you bought a 997.1 car at £65k you would HAVE to sell it if you got a slot for a GT4

that would be a £20k gain on the 997 and a 20k gain on the GT4. £40k up for the ave person has to be the way to go some times, a shame but £40k is £40k.
the money side of things is killing what the cars are. people are selling left right and centre atm to cash in.

I did vote for my own car, but if i wanted to i could quite easily sell my 997 gen 1 and add 20k to it and buy a gen 2 but i just don't feel it offers enough over my car to warrant the extra cash, plus the 3.6 sounds a lot better than the 3.8, especially now my rear bypass is fitted.

The 997 gen 1 is the best value GT3 you can buy at the moment,

Now i'm not saying it's the best car, but it does look the best car for the money out of that lot.

I think I may be the first (and only).

It is the closest to its equivalent Cup car. And hence obviously the best.
