Domain names and logo design
Discussion
If the company name conveys what the company does then probably a good idea to incorporate it into the domain. It's rare that anyone would even need to type it out, mostly people will be clicking on links. But they might be more inclined to do that if it seems from the name that you will meet their immediate need.
Hi,
I'd agree with the above - buy both domains but use the shorter one as it'll be easier for people to remember.
As for logo designers - I could help out with this - please take a look at my portfolio http://pulseight.com and feel free to get in touch!
Cheers

Re: Logo design.
Not going to offer my services, but please please please use a decent designer to do this. One that knows the technical stuff as well as how to make it look pretty.
A nice looking logo is all well and good but it needs to be used in colour, black and white, single colour. Be legible at small sizes. Not look stupid at large sizes. Needs to work as flat colour (ie no gradients, drop shadows etc) in case you need it for vinyl graphics. etc.
I get sent so many logos sent through that aren't usable across different media (and companies that start out as web companies are generally the worst culprits).
Save money in the long run by getting a decent job done from the off.

Why?He's not an FTSE 100 company, he's some bloke setting up a shoestring budget company from home.
Far better to spend £50 on one now, and redo it later if needed.
The only people who'll tell you a logo actually matters, are logo designers

Yip. For most start up businesses a logo is the last thing they should be thinking about. Sadly it's usually the first.
I've had so many clients who will fuss over every shade, detail and orientation of their logo and they haven't bothered with the important stuff like actually seeing if anyone wants what they're offering. Mental.

a logo / the brand can make a big difference in how clients / market perceive a company - it can make the difference between work or not...However correct in that the balance of effort is often wrong, and there need not be more than an hour's thought / work / cost and then move on to the real things for the business... I do feel that for many people starting a company it is a part of the feeling that it is real and therefore the company is actually happening...

Depends on the business, if it's online I'd agree more, but if it's Paul the Plumber nobody cares if his logo is cerise or magenta.
a logo / the brand can make a big difference in how clients / market perceive a company - it can make the difference between work or not...I've had clients who have spent months and thousands on their 'brand'; logo, website, social media etc. Without actually testing the market to see if anyone wants what is a brand new service. One is in for £100k opening a new premises which could have been tested in a rented room for about £7k.
It will go tits up, guaranteed. And it didn't have to. But he got sucked in by all the image marketing nonsense and took his eye off what matters, money in the till.
I'm in the business, I'm not anti logos but there are more pressing things at the outset. Anyway this is slightly OT now.

My business is more so on line, at least at the start. I want to make sure there is a market for it before I put too much money into it and losing it, as can be the case with a lot of companies, going too big too early and failing.
While a good logo is key, I don't think it would take someone too long to design something I like.
