Bought one!

I have bought an S1. chrome orange, 99S with 135 upgrade. picking up friday/weekend.

little things though: hood leaks a wee bit from frotn left corner. not a lot but a few drips. is this just something to deal with or is there a fix?

also, the RHS of the driver's seat is torn/worn through. should i just go to an upholsterer to get this fixed? how much should it cost?

well done. Nice colour as well.

Most of the soft tops leak from time to time. You just need to adjust it properly and make sure the windows are also adjusted then it should be ok.

Lotus do a good retriming service on the seats and they are not too expensive. One of the guys in EVO has it done a few months ago and they looked superb.

Nice one mate - glad it worked out in the end. I trust you got the price down closer to what you wanted!

With regards to your two questions, the hoods do leak towards the front corner where they meet the window tops - there's generally a small gap where the window doesn't come flush to the roof edge. As Davey mentions, adjust as best you can. One thing I considered (but not got around to because it never bothered me THAT much) was to buy a small length of rubber edging and slip it over the top edge of the window as I roll it up to "bung" the gap in the corner. Maybe that might sort it?

thanks guys. the colour looks amazing! can't wait to get my hands on it. (sadly have now got to find and pay for insurance. i'm 22!)

i'd send the seat to lotus but this will be my only car so can't do that. i'll see if anyone local to me can tackle the job.

thanks for the advice about the roof. i'll see if i can get something to make it a snug fit- the other half won't be keen on water coming in the roof onto her knees!!

Try Adrian Flux - they've always done the best deals for me in the past.

You can get one seat done at a time and swap the other over in the meantime. IIRC someone else did that recently - but that does mean the Mrs won't be able to roll with you. Sure it'll be sorted - in the meantime just duct-tape it (you might notice I'm a big fan of duct-tape ).

Let me know how you get on - I'm too bloody lazy to sort mine more than it is. Only time it's ever leaked when I was in it was during an absolutely torrential downpour. Usually only a few drops on the sill.

Give Elephant a try for the insurance as well, they were the most competitive when I was looking.
As for the roof, mine leaks like a goodun no matter what I do so I ended up buying one of the Elemental roof covers and that put an end to it. When driving I just keep a towel in the car!

I think sinclaires might be able to loan you a seat whilst they are sent off to lotus if you do it via them. Depends where you are located though, they are in essex.

If you do them one at a time you could just send off the passenger, install it on drivers side when it comes back then send off the drivers side. Assuming you want to retrim both that is.

Look under the gadgets/gifts section. They're about £80 but well worth it, particularly in the summer when you can't be bothered to keep putting the roof on when parked up for short periods.

Nice one! with regards to insurance try Bell Direct (these are a sister company of Elephant and were cheaper than them for me). secondly with reference to the leak i have also had this in my S2, the lotus garage sorted out one side but it still leaked on the other in the front corner like yours so i simply put a blob of vaseline between the roof and rubber seal of the windscreen and its ok now- no leaks!
