How true is it, that if you have your jacked up by a garage say the roof needs to be up and windows closed.
I assume if true to keep flexing to a minimum which may crack the screen.
Maybe rubbish too.

Not on modern convertibles, they are too stiff to flex and the roof is never going to improve that.
Also they are designed so the screen and the roll bars take the weight of the car if you roll it, so jacking it up with the roof down will make no odds.
I've never bothered over the last 15 years of owning convertibles or bust a screen doing it hehe

It was something Stratstone mentioned when one of my cars went in for a service.
Can't remember what was said but I remember it sniffed abit.
At the garage today triggered the memory.

It's true if the windscreen has a minor crack or serious stone chip which could set off a crack. Not true if the windscreen is perfect.

The chassis will not twist at all if the thing is being lifted on a ramp with 4 pads. The only time there will be some flex is if the car is lifted on just 1 jacking point, and it would be a very poor design if the car twisted enough to break a screen.
