Somewhere dull, Thursday. Sauber have revealed, to absolutely nobody at all, their 2005 F1 challenger - the C24. This startling car, similar in absolutely every possible aspect to every other Sauber for yonks, will challenge for the coveted midfield slot which has been Saubers by right since 1993. The Swiss legends who have achieved a stunning 6 podiums in 199 attempts, are aiming to continue their upward curve which has seen their points average shoot up from 0.38% for the 1993 season to a mouthwatering 0.94% last year. The team, home to F1 megastars over the years such as Norberto Fontana and Jean Christophe Bouillion, hope that in the manic hands of semi-blind ex-winner Jacques Villeneuve (43) and 'accident-waiting-to-happen', Felipe Massa (13) this car will push the team forward. 'We must break that next step and aim consistently to finish in the top eight wherever possible' said Willi Rampf, Technical supremo.

the sauber is actually quite different to last years as they have ditched the ferrari gearbox as a cost saving measure. most importantly however, they should have the same spec engine as ferrari (albeit badged a Petronas) as the new regs regarding engines being used for two grand prix hence ferrari will be supplying sauber with the latest engine. finally, accorinding to autosport, the wheelbase is about 300mm longer, consistent with most other teams 2005 cars as thet try to shift the weight backwards.
i think the drivers at sauber this year will be consistently quick and they are a good bet for fourth in the championship.

Sauber are as far away now from that first win as they ever were. Being conservative in approach is fine, especially if you are Swiss, but with their resources and income one has to wonder why it hasn't yet happened. The C24 is pretty much last years car and by hiring JV they are aiming yet again for the area of mediocrity they have been stuck in for ten years...
