Well today I collected my cammed Monaro from NWJ Autocare and then got it mapped.

Have to say I'm very happy with the overall result. What was already in my opinion a fast car is now a lot faster. Still got a couple of small things to sort as well as a boot load of parts to find a new home for however the upgrades are mostly complete.

So thanks to a number of people on or previously on this forum for all their help and guidance on the car. Now to see what it will do at TR and see what's next...

Thanks to everyone for their help.

Cam specs/details on heads please smile

Did you manage to get a before/after dyno run?

The heads are the monkfish ported ls2 jobs 65 cc and cam specs are 222/226 with 0.605 lift. Can't remember lsa spec too many beers now. I've got a before graph but not for the new set up will try and get it booked in at SRR in the next few weeks. I've got a idea but can't upload at the moment as on phone.

Sounds like a nice setup thumbup

Are you enjoying the idle? There's nothing like a cammed V8 idling cloud9

Hmm, I've got 222/226 and LS2 heads (not ported)...the MF LS2 heads are a recent thing aren't they? Would be interested to see what you've gained smile

It looks like we could do a mini dyno meet some time soon with all the different setups between us smile

Glad you're happy with your set up Vince, has the idle changed much now it's mapped from the video Neil put up this week?

EPS cam I'm guessing. On a 115 LSA? Nice, and will be easy on emissions.

What's the deal with the MF heads. Are they remarketed GMPP ported 243, or an in house job?

Yeah, and headers...not seen anyone report on the MF heads though, and yours happens to be very close to my setup smile

...would be good to know...also wonder if any of what they include is negotiable, those springs sound a bit brutal for a mildish cam.

Nice that there's another local option now - AAS can do it by hand, but including the heads it's similar money.

Question...does lowering the rpm change the way it starts up or runs when pulling up to junctions, example revs dipping too low then stalling?

Or is it to stop the engine from throwing itself left and right too much?

I messed around with idle speeds for a bit and it's currently set around the original level (800rpm hot). There's more power reserve for the power steering/AC/etc. and it's easier to move off smoothly with the higher idle (tend to blip higher otherwise, and sometimes you just don't want the attention), but obviously it uses more fuel and you lose some lope (subjective whether that's good...). I prefer it low, but I think your tune has to be bang on (and your cam probably mild) to get away with it...you invite stalling issues if things like your idle undershoot corrections aren't aggressive enough, and may need to fiddle with other tables (forgotten some of what I fiddled, but there are good topics on it on the EFI live forum). Transitions to and from idle take the longest to properly tune, it's understandable why some tuners just whack it at 1000+rpm so and be done with it, especially with a donkey-dick cam.

I fear we're going O/T...sorry Vince...Ringram mentioned you may want to ream out your TB hole, message me if you want my old 78mm TB with a pre-drilled hole to play with (moderators-->£free) smile

A quick vid immediately after the tune.

https://youtu.be/Zzn3Jmgy0n4

Apparently it also has extra power, worth it for this noise alone although it seems much fecking louder now!

I've put the specs above but it also has a 114 LSA and 110 ICL (114+4).

It does pull really well now never driven anything like quite like it!

A meet up would be good especially as I'm keen to get to SRR and see what's what, although the tune may need some tweaking still.

KMud thanks for the offer of the TB, I'll send you a PM.
