Damper Differences C2/C4
Discussion
My C4 is getting some love next month and part of this will be some fresh(er) dampers as the KWs on it have now covered over 100K without a rebuild and are quite frankly buggered. At work there is a set of 996 GT3 Ohlins from one of our old race cars but obviously this was a 2WD chassis.
Does anyone know if there is a significant difference in the design of the standard front damper between C2 and C4? I seem to remember the OD of the upright end of the damper is the same and the damper rod is the same diameter with the only real difference being the valving to take into account the weight difference/spring rate difference. The top mount being the major change between the two to allow the damper to be run at a greater angle than the C2 and obviously the uprights are different.
I can make a top mount to suit no problem but if the design length and/or OD are different obviously it's a no go. Hopefully someone can save me lying on the ground with the measuring tape
