looked at a S2 ST on friday.
very low mileage, but looked a bit unloved.
I wonered, has all the mileage been recorded?
is it a straightforward unplug of a sender or would that cause problems elsewhere (eg engine mgt)?

Thanks.

Sept 01 car. 12,500 miles. Two A services - miles seem to stack but just wondered due to general wear.
If I decide to go for it I will get it fully checked (quoted 120+vat for full report by Lotus dealer).

Should be in pretty good nick inside for that mileage imho.

Certainly not unheard of for a 3 1/2 year old car to have that lowish mileage, lots of Elises are weekend cars. But yes, get it condition inspected if you decide to go for it.

Should be easy to check out, my 111s s2 is on 52 plate and only done 17000 miles, used as second car. So i guess your car may have same life.
Good luck, if this one doesn't stack up theres plenty more out there and well worth the wait.

Get a HPI check done - they check against the national mileage register and it only costs £41

They also give you £10k insurance if theres problems assuming you carefully cross check the VIN etc.

Does the milage on the service sheets tie up ??
You could also check with the garage.....

Just traded in my Dec 51 reg Elise S2 ST. It's got 13900 on the clock. Mind you it does look "loved".... what do you mean by unloved?

I really must use my new Exige S2 much more!!!!!

My '98 S1 only has 10,121 miles on it. I bought it with 8,120 miles on the clock last spring and, apart from two litle scratches on the sill and a few stone chips on the front end, it looked like new.

I reckon it could be possible for a low mileage car to have quite a bit of wear and tear if the owner wasn't too careful. These cars are easy to damage.

As long as you get it checked out properly and the price reflects the condition there's no reason not to go for it IMHO.

If it's a Sept 01 car then shouldn't it have had more services? Bought mine new in Nov 02 and it's already had 2 A services, so shouldn't yours have had a B as well? They should be serviced every 12 months regardless of mileage.

120+VAT for a checkup?? I would also like a possible second hand purchase checked by a dealer and had quotes for:

68.50 Sinclaires www.sinclairebodyshop.co.uk/
76.25 Wilsons www.wilson-group.co.uk/

Ignore that last comment, I've just got the quote for the proper check from Wilson's, £150 + VAT.
