French fuel prices.
Discussion
I thought that some of you might like a link for finding the best fuel prices in France, so here it is; http://www.carbeo.com/
Interesting that there are no diesel prices for Dieppe.
The other site http://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr/ has it at 90.4p. I can live with that, it's bloody better than the 120p it is, here!

This is the second thread on fuel prices and I really can't understand it. If you are in a diseasel you'll do say 40 mpg and it is say 250 miles to Le Mans. Not real figures but used as an example. So 50 litres there and back. Wow - you've saved the enormous sum of £15 which during the Le Mans week amounts to a couple of pints of beer. Unless of course you arrive in Calais, hit the motorway and then find that it is one hell of a long way to the first service station and run out when your potential saving goes up in smoke. The best service station is the first turning off the road after you leave the port, then the first exit at the roundabout, then straight on until you see Leclerc. But lads, just arrive in France with enough to get you to Le Mans. No stress, no hassle, no need to go looking for fuel. If you can't afford £15 you shouldn't be coming to Le Mans anyway.
When I was driving a diesel and getting 50+mpg I filled up the day before and the tank-full easily got me from London to La Sarthe. A visit to Super U on Friday or Monday got me home again. Now that I'm driving something a little thirstier and a lot more sporting there's likely to have to be an intermediate fill, for peace of mind if nothing else.
Back in the day before 24/7 pay at pump when most places were shut on Sundays I sometimes had a problem and had to resort to Autoroute services.

If others are like me it is not a question of being able to afford the extra on the fuel, it's more a case of not giving our Government more tax for the fuel. As a business owner I hate the amount of tax I pay in one way or another.
My trip will use about £400 for the 1200 (sedate!) miles and it will just make me feel better using fuel that didn't benefit our exchequer.

^^^^^^^^^^ exactly what he said! My trip will use about £400 for the 1200 (sedate!) miles and it will just make me feel better using fuel that didn't benefit our exchequer.

The level of Duty on fuel in the UK is criminal and affects the costs of just about everything, so any opportunity not to add to it, will be taken by me.
Half the fun of a road trip is seeing how far you can go with the light on or if in an Elise how long with it saying refill
My best effort was 20 years ago in rural France early on Sunday when most petrol stations were shut. I managed 52 miles with the light on before finding a supermarket on the edge of a large town.
I wasn't worried a bit
