Accident Reports

Between them the two A-road junctions within 500m or so of my house have seen four serious and/or fatal RTAs (RTIs?) in the past twelve months or so, most recently this one:

As someone who uses both junctions at least once on most days I am very concerned to find out how these accidents occurred and what, if anything, is being done to address the causes.

Any ideas as to how I might best go about this?

A phone call to the local police traffic unit would be my first port of call.
If no joy, then perhaps a call to the Super in charge of traffic.
If no joy, then letter to MP.

The persons that you need to speak to are in the Traffic Management Dept.

Every Traffic unit should have one and they are a mixture of Police Officers and Civilians who liase with Local Council re Roadworks, Accident blackspots etc and that is their fulltime job and responsibility.

Thanks for the replies - I'll see what I can find out.

Both junctions have awkward sightlines which can be further compromised by poor vehicle positioning and thick b-posts, headrests etc - but just to know what kinds of vehicles were involved and what directions they were travelling in would help get the message home and ensure that family and friends don't add themselves to the statistics.

From what is stated then the Local Authority Traffic Management Section should have this flagged up for attention as a result of Stats 19 having been submitted after each accident by BiB. Could well be that they are already looking at the matter and trying to allocate funds for engineering. Unfortunately all this takes time.
