As per title.
I need to park the C4S about 2 mile from a client office and could cycle from there, and wondered if anyone has put a Brompton bike in the boot (so that it can close...)?
This is before/if I buy a Brompton. Look forward to hearing from you.

Many thanks

PS you might have a Brompton, but not tried putting it in your 996 boot - if not why not have a go and let the forum know the result?

Whatever the outcome, rear should be doable, with the passenger seat pushed forwards for better access, and the front seat a definite can-do.

I can report my Brompton doesn't fit in the front of my 996 due to height issues however you try (GT2 so deeper boot than 4WD versions), but I have the soft case and can put it in there to protect the interior and seatbelt it into the passenger seat where it just fits! Bit of a struggle looking over it sometimes so not ideal, and seatbelt important to avoid an unwanted visit to the driver's seat on left handers.

It does fit fine in the front of a 2014 Cayman S though, annoyingly wink

Excellent answer, just what I was looking for; much appreciated.
Although I am still not taken to buying a Cayman S so I can buy a Brompton; nice idea though! ;-)

Seconded. Colleagues Brompton would not fit in the front of my 996 rwd, so he had to cycle in the rain.

I can confirm that my brompton fits into the boot of my 996 - 2wd. It is very tight, mainly because I have the longer seat post. The regular fits better. I've always guessed that it wouldn't fit into a 4wd.

But you can get it on the floor in front of the front seat or behind but its fiddly!

Thanks Daniel that's helpful, I was planning on getting the standard or telescopic seat post - so you never know.

Might as well ask - how is the Brompton as a ride?

Don't be silly, a 911 roof rack should only be for skis whilst winding up easily passible Alpine roads...

I'm going to have to try again with mine, I'm certain it didn't fit because I tried for ages and it just looked hopeless.

As regards riding a brompton, I've done about 10k miles on mine in the 5 1/2 years I've been riding it, used pretty much daily for four 2-3 mile stretches across London / to/from home to train station.

It's brilliant, nothing seriously gone wrong with it all that time just usual pedals, tyres and a couple of wheels worn out (rims), brake pads of course. I ride it like hell too so no easy ride.

The expensive SON dynamo setup is a real boon and I wouldn't be without it, although both lights have shaken to bits already costing 145 quid to replace, but they're super bright and you can see clearly in pitch dark during those slightly worse for drink ambles home late at night. They stay on when stationary which saves you being crashed into at lights.

Definitely recommended, plus factory support is really amazing, long story but basically they sorted a problem for me brilliantly.

I think that you need to put it in the context of a bike that fits into a 996 boot smile They're different to road bikes, small wheels and short wheel base make for a nimble to twitchy ride. The "firm" suspension block is a must have. Ditto the front carrier mount for Brompton bags.

The extended seatpost and a Brooks saddle fit in mine BUT you have to be very careful. I think the telescopic post would add an impossible couple of centimetres - unless you can remove the top part.

I've done many a longish ride on mine (50miles plus some Spanish mountains) but i'm masochistic. But mine is a 2 speed (S2L). Lighter than the 3sp sturmy. I'll take a pic when i'm next passing my car.

Thank you guys this has been really helpful. I like the "slightly worse for drink ambles back.." am guessing you were not cycling/weaving back to the car!

DanielW - when you say an extra impossible couple of centimetres, does that mean the telescopic post is longer (closed up) than the standard post?

Cheers

997.2 back seats each take a bagged Brompton very neatly. And sorry, haven't tried the boot though.
