Evening all,

My pal has just bought a newish C Class and is finding dipped beam a bit underwhelming. He's thinking about upgrading to 100 watt bulbs but is concerned about their singeing the plastic lamp covers.

One post in a dedicated MB forum warned of this, albeit on the 220. Has anyone here any experience/advice/warnings? Thanks.

All of which have glass lenses.
Don't do it if the car is a W204.

It is a W204, so we have the answer.

On a 204 the lamp warning circuit will come on, better to use the Osram Night Breakers.

If you go that route,, only buy from ECP as Ebay is flooded in fakes

This. The 100w bulbs can cause overheating and distortion of the reflector after a while in stationery traffic.

Stationery traffic? Is that when cars are queueing in Staples car park?

Where else? I'll wear the foolscap for a quarto of an hour.
