Getting an insurance certificate
Discussion
Does anyone know why insurance companies not want to issue a certificate of insurance. There must be a reason? I've just renewed my Public and Employers and received a total of 64 pages in 6 separate bundles, but no certificate which is the only part I require. Do they think that I might cancel the insurance and continue to use the certificate? Why would I want to that as it would be fraudulent and invalid.
Herin lies the problem. There is no such thing as a certificate of public liability insurance. There is for employers liability, but not for public liability.
The bit that shows your cover for public liability is the insurance schedule.
However this might also show other info you don't want to give away.
For this reasons we issue confirmation of cover letters on a "to whom it may concern" basis

Thanks Jon, that does indeed answer my question and I notice the 'certificate' I've just been sent, says only 'proof of liability insurance'. In future when I'm asked for a certificate I'll try giving them my schedule instead. The bit that shows your cover for public liability is the insurance schedule.

which is why I thought I'd ask here. The reason I was given is that certificates are issued only after a request and the reason for that is that is that is way insurance companies do it. I just wonder why?
