Where can I buy Rosso Pearl Touch up pen/paint?

Have 1 or 2 small stonechips that i want to touch up on my car. Does anyone know were i can buy one from?

Try TVR Bodyshop, on 01275 858461 or at www.tvrbodyshop.co.uk.

Last two touch-up "sticks" I had were just £12 each.

I phoned up the TVR bodyshop to inquire about a little scratch repair on my Rosso Pearl Griff, they said that they could not match Rosso Pearl.

Oooh thats a pitty. I've got about 25,000 of the buggers to do until I can afford a respray.

Go along to your local independant back street auto factors, most towns have them, or a local bodyshop and 100ml of paint in a pot shouldn't cost more than £10
It's not like TVR invented Rosso Pearl, it's metalic red is it not I imagine it's a Rover colour or something, you really need to have the paint matched to the car, as if it's older than 6 months the paint will be faded and 'new' Red will be brighter than your old red, a good paint specialist will be able to account for this when he mixes the paint
Just take along your handbook the paint code he'll need is on the 1st few pages

Agree with raceboy, I went to my local car spares shop, asked for a touch-up (ooh-er) paint pot of Halcyon Atlantis. It was listed by name in his book of paint codes. Perfect match, and it's a pearl colour.
IIRC, it was only about a fiver.

I phoned TVR body shop and got the same answer as groucho. They did however suggest a close alternative which should be ok for small stonechips.

I believe Rosso Pearl originated as a Harley Davidson tank colour.

Isn't Rosso Pearl a red lacquer on a silver/gold base coat? Unlike normal pearlescent/metallic colours which have a clear lacquer coat.

It's something to do with Rosso Pearl using ink instead of pigment, I'm probably missing a lot of other things out though.

It matters not what the colour is, any bodyshop that cannot match just cannot be bothered.

Even metamerism can be overcome by choosing different pigments

I agree a body shop should be able to "spray" a match, but putting it in a bottle for touch-up paint is probably a little more difficult where base coat, and coloured lacquer are involved.

When I phoned them up I was inquiring about a little scratch on the door that I was hoping that they could 'blow in', rather than getting 'touch-up'. They told me it would need an entire respray and anybody that said that they could do it, basically couldn't. They were not the only bodyshop that said this to me either, one more did.
I not professing I know anything about it, just passing on comments.
I really hope it can be done, then I will get my scratch done.

Could anyone post the paint codes for the appropriate layers in Pearlescant rosso please?

It's probably in your owners handbook, or factory service manual.

I have a kit car that's nearing completion. Pearlescant Rosso is definately the colour I've set my little heart upon and for the record, it's not a colour that's used by any other car manufacturer.

IIRC, there were about 8 shades of Rosso, over the years. And it's very prone to fading too.

I went to a local chap who runs an independent version of Chips Away and he mixed up the paint according to my paint code, then adjusted it afterwards for my car.

Cost me a fiver.
