I have a number of web sites that email into other peoples email account.

THe first thing I need to to is encode their addresses but I also want to insert an identifyable subject heading.

How do I do that in html?

If you're talking about hyperlinking, put mailto:joe@bloggs.com?subject=Whatever - that should do it! Use %20 for spaces.

Are you trying to write a "feedback" or "contact us" type form for your website, where the user enters their email address, subject and message? If you are then it is fairly trivial with PHP and has the added advantage of not plastering your email address all over your website for those nice spammers to harvest.

Edit: I agree that mailto:joe@bloggs.com?subject=Whatever is very effective for simple solutions though.

Great,

I knew it was simple, just couldn't find the right combinations.

Presumably I can attach the subject bit after any encoded email address.

You can also use &from= &body= to insert a "From" record and some body text IIRC

RFC2368 contains the full description if you want it...

Don't recall that a "from" element is available though, would be a bit dodgy if not spotted.
