New Thread moved across from "The 4.5 Cerbera Project on ebay"

Change of colour is a given. Looked at some options with Ryan (SP Automotive) on Saturday and am drawn towards a very dark pearlescent green (Mercedes colour), looks almost black until the sun catches it. A mate of mine knows an ex-Aston Martin trimmer local to me and I will be looking at some options there.

Being a first-time owner, I'm keen to know what key upgrades I should look at, given that the chassis and running gear are sorted. I was thinking aluminium radiator and maybe some improvements on the induction system? Ryan has already done the front and rear lights, recessed the number plate and changed the front screen pillars. Having read the threads on the "Boscastle Cerb" there seems to be two yellow Cerbs that get intertwined in the recounting of various experiences? Suffice to say I am having a squeaky moment re. the electrical system.

Just as well I told the wife that there was less money in my refurb account than there actually is! I shall be praying to the gods of Lucas and Bosch every night until the picture becomes clearer!!

Any history related to this car would be appreciated.

This was the car I viewed in 2008. The reg was R8 TVR but I remember in the owners handbook Douglas valley had for the car the reg was something like P5 TVR. Soon after I viewed it somebody bought the car and couldn't afford to repair it and he sold it on for about £4k. I'm pretty sure at the time there were threads on here with people saying it was the Boscastle one, all I remember is it looked badly water damaged, all the control boxes in the boot were covered in sludge and leaves and the carpets were wet. The chassis was just rust and one of the outriggers had completely fallen off.

Thanks for this. Yes it's my car, .....................that squeaking is getting louder!

It was always going to be a labour of love, and the work done so far by Ryan is top notch. On the basis that it did fire up (albeit a V4 according to what I have read), the engine re-build is another tick in the box, although I'm wondering what budget I may need to reserve to take care of the electrics?

Do you have the owners handbook? Is the reg recorded as P5 TVR in the handbook? I wondered if this was the original reg or if Douglas valley had just taken the handbook from another car.

HPi Check has it as R8 TVR transferred to it in 1999, another PH'er (big thanks to Richard) who emailed me earlier today looked at the car at Douglas Valley Breakers in 2008 and it had the R8 TVR plate on it back then.

HPi shows P5 TVR as being the original plate at date of first registration.

Knowing that the car may have "taken a bath" is a bit daunting, but looking at the situation from a glass half full perspective, I have a better than new chassis, new running gear, a re-built engine, straight body shell (no damage at all), tasteful body modifications, a spanking new paint job .....................................and maybe a lot of electrics to resolve laugh

All the bits are there (so I'm told and believe), so just a case of cracking on, assuming the position and bracing oneself for the potential auto electrical bill. If anyone has a feeling on what this could be, worst case, I'd be extremely grateful for the heads up.

Thanks again for all the comments.

Good luck with it.

The electrics should be more straight forward, less time consuming and far less expensive than all the chassis/engine/body work that has already been done, so I hope you get it all sorted and driving in it soon!

They are great fun!

To be honest with you, I'd forego aluminium radiators. They crack a lot. A good steel radiator has more than enough cooling capacity for this engine.

I would add to your shopping list a Raceproved clutch slave cylinder, a new clutch if yours shows signs of wear, possibly new airbox backplates if yours are crushed (they often are), short induction (Joolz of Kits And Classics "Whirlwind" kit) and then just check everything you do have actually works rather than spending your budget on bling.

Congratulations on your new toy biggrin

Thanks, can't remember when I last felt this excited, it certainly wasn't whilst watching the Arsenal game last night!!!

A clutch is definitely on the list and I was looking at the short induction hose kit yesterday. Also considering a stainless exhaust, albeit I'm trying to find the middle road that will deliver a great sound, whilst also getting through the MOT.

All-up it's going to take about three months to complete at a guess (excluding trimming), I just hope there's a bit of dry weather left scratchchin

Congratulations on your purchase.

Is that some additional ARB bracket strengthening in yellow? It would be good to get some close up pics. Are these widely available or a one off by Ryan?
