The disintegration continues...

Do you like any of these people, involved directly and/or indirectly in 'infotainment?'
You may, or may not.
For me George Alagiah is an extremely high quality news presenter, eminently watachable, indeed, the quintessential Beeb anchorman type.
Guess what? He's Asian.
Well whoop-f@cking-wee!
When will this pointless discrimination end, it drives me nuts?

Actually the same race as the vast majority of British-born people then - Caucasian. So even less reason to discriminate.

Would a list of the Most Powerful Whites in the Media go down as well?
Or a Music of White Origin awards ceremony?
Thought not.
My thoughts entirely.
And mine....
Discrimination will have no chance of ending as long as a distinction (positive and negative) keeps getting pushed under our noses. They should stop all the promotion of black only this and asian only that and then people might stop thinking that there is something different about them.
What's the big deal about who they are or where they come from. The large majority of so called minorities are likely born in the UK anyway.
About a month ago, a black man was released after serving 40 yrs of a life sentence for murder. He wasn't innocent. He had admitted to the killings in a video tape. The crime was that he kidnapped, shot, and stabbed 3 people to death. He had these weapons in his posession before the murders, indicating pre-meditation. So, in my opinion, it's murder in the first. But here's the kicker: in the news, the press kept emphasising the first trial and the ALL WHITE JURY, the appeal, and the ALL WHITE jury, plus the racism at the time (not to mention the ALL WHITE jury). After fighting to get the sentence reduced to manslaughter, he was recently released. He admitted to the press that he had done it and was sorry. I mean, let's just forget what color everyone is for a second and consider that a man who plans, kidnaps, shoots, and stabs 3 people to death is not an accidental death. It is not manslaughter. Manslaughter is if I accidentally hit you with my car and you die. Nothing about what that guy did was accidental, but they let him go because they presumed every white person on the jury was a biggot? That's racism right there. We should let him off because he's black? They treated this clear case of racism (easier punishment for minorities) as some kind of civil rights victory. Disgusting.
If i was asian i would find things like this mildly offensive. It seems what they are saying is that this list of talented individuals gained success despite being asian and as such should be specially recognised for it.
Another query; why are the MOBO awards awarded to black and asian artists? What cultural, social or physical attributes do these two groups have in common?

The bit I never understand, is where are the afghanistani, bangladeshi, sri lankan, laos(ian?),cambodian, bhutanese, nepalese, thai, vietnamese, large chunk of russian, singaporean, malaysian, indonesian, burmese, mongolian, japanese or chinese members of the most powerful asian people list??
Is asia being redefined as two countries?
There are is a large oriental community in the UK but when was the last time you saw a Oriental origin TV presenter?
Sorry if I forgot anyone!!

I'm sick of this kind of thing. Meera Syal would already be somewhere near the top of the 'comedy' awards, George Alagaiah would surely be in the best 'newsreaders' in the country, yet because they're Asian, we single them out.
We don't have a MOWO or anything because I think we'd be slightly offended to be artificially promoted ahead of everyone else due to our country of origin. We'd call it racist and wouldn't stand for it.
What does amaze me, actually, is why the various Asian personalities in the list support this kind of discrimination.

In theory you can get one if you are white as well, as long as your music is "black" in origin, whatever that means.
mobo awards DO go to white artists as well as black and asian artists
i suppose it's just easier than saying "awards for jazz, hip hop, r&B, soul, funk, gospel, reggae and other sorts of music traditionally associated with people of african/afro caribbean backgrounds but now perfomed by people of any race"
list of most powerful asians? waste of time but hardly positive discrimination
what's next?
a list of powerful left-handers or powerful gingers?

Quite recently, BBC 5 live were harping on about the monkey chanting in Spain, for the 20th time that week.
The presenter, Victoria Derbyshire, asked Paul Parker, ex England footballer, if he thought the players should have walked off in protest. He replied by saying that, in his opinion if the players had walked off the pitch, he would have been disgusted and that all the racism endured by the likes of, Cyrille Regis, Viv Anderson etc, without reacting, would all have been in vain and that the best way of showing the racists the red card, was by rising above the bigotry and inspired play on the pitch.
She was clearly shocked that his answer did'nt comply with all the previous left wing sycophants and i wanted to shake his hand and applaud his common sense.

I agree that this pole is hardly pushing relations forward but why drag the MOBOs into the argument?
Off the top of my head I can't think of any MOWO, apart possibly from Oompah and Chamber music.
Edited 'cause one wrong letter turn the whole thing into poo

I heard that too and thought the same thing. The Beeb seems full of lefty presenters wanting to create a storey in order to 'guide' our views in many subjects.
