Dash top re-colour

Thinking of changing the dash top colour from magnolia to blue, due to reflection problems. I've lived with it for 3 years now but am still undecided. Some days I hardly notice it, other days it's a bind.

The interior quality is good and I'm not keen on removing the dash top. I certainly don't want to remove the screen for the edge part but will obviously remove the air vents. (I know a proper job would involve all of this and a re-cover but there's nothing wrong with the existing material.)

Sooo.... has anyone used Furniture Clinic products (or others) to do this job with the dash in place? What were the results like? Pics if possible please.

The devil is in the detail and I'm happy to take time to mask up and prep properly. 'Washing off' as part of the process won't be so easy though. At the end of the day I will regret it if it turns out to be a crap job. Comments more than welcome.

Take the dash of, not that difficult. Think about colours matching door trims, are the door tops different colour? think how they meet. So many got this wrong when new

Fair comment about dash removal but what about the remaining part which butts against the windscreen?

Ahh, that could be different. I was fortunate enough to have that part the same colour as my door tops [blue] so it matched up well, sort of flowed through IYSWIM. But even if you were doing that, it would be easier with the dash out of the way. That may be better left in situ 'if' you have to change that colour as I think it would be difficult to replace and look right.

I pretty much followed this post too when I did mine. It can be done in place, you just need to put some time in masking up and going carefully. I did the window area twice on mine as when I removed the masking the first time around I saw a couple of rough patches so re-did those areas. Very happy with the results.
