Witch (creeping up wizzards rear) is best?

Witch on a broomstick up a hill comes to the top and finds wizzard waiting to pull out in his giant crystal ball. How does she stop herself from going backwards? 
Ive always slipped the clutch, but if it induces wear it cant be good! The cerbera hand brake is as good as broke, useless on a steep hill anyway(!) and with no bumper, in fear of cracking the fiberglass arse-end from even a small bump (especially when Im not used to the car!) Id rather not jump off the anchors and give it some wailing welly hoping to start going forwards before moving back into whoever is creeping up my rear, figuratively speaking of course

I usually sit with the brakes on, no handbrake and out of gear.
When it's time to go, engage first, gradually let out clutch until you feel the bite, release the brakes, quickly side stepping onto the accelerator and pull away as normal.
You get used to it after a while. The first few goes, you either stall, or wheel spin away.

The handbrake.
When I picked my cerbera up, I went to fill her up with some optimax. When walking to the kiosk to pay, I noticed my lovely blue cerb rolling out of the forecourt. I crapped myself. I also felt a right plonker.
Some cerbera handbrakes work; most are crap.

My handbrake works an absolute treat now Joos carried out his handbrake modification...

I should get it done really. As you know, around Sheffield isn't exactly flat.

Glad its not just me, did the same with my old S3 and it gently rolled into the car in front... Managed to move it back without them noticing, but got pointed and laughed at by others!

I thought only people hot off the press who had just read the highway code did this.
Whats wrong with heel and toe. The reason heel and toe got started was because of this. It wasn't invented by racing drivers. It was invented by cars of the time with no handbrakes worth talking about.
Bit like double declutching. Nothing to do with racing initially, but was invented out of necessity for non synchro gearboxes.

Come and live up here. We have hills. Its not like kent, that has a similar landscape to Holland.

Byff is right....you'll either stall or take off like a scalded cat..
After being told, very firmly on my first ride out in the right hand seat, not to have a heavy right foot when pulling away....I stalled.....

I still don't like the fact that the handbrake is crap.
It's why I don't drive it often and if that makes me a big girl...well okay....I am...so that's about right!!
I keep trying to persuade Ray to take the Peril to Jools.......but he does the heel & toe thing so well that he sees no need for it.

What's wrong with just having reactions marginally faster than a tortoise on tranqs? Switching from foot-on-brake to feeding in the clutch whilst having the revs up around 1400 RPM or so shouldn't take more than a couple of tenths of a second. No need to heel and toe unless we're talking a 1 in 10 incline with another car 3 inches from your front & rear bumpers. You shandy-swilling lentilist!

Although I'm sure if we were both sitting on a hill, my footbake would work better than your handbrake.

Exactly. Just sit with your foot on the brake and out of gear, when moving off, put it in gear, let of the brake and catch the car with the throttle. You'll roll back half an inch at most.
