I got to have a wee ride in the 650S Le Mans the other week at St Andrew's Hospice's Race the Runway. Parks - who own McLaren Glasgow amongst other dealerships - tend to have some great car around, for static display at the very least, and currently have this limited edition in. One of only 50. I thought I would share some pictures smile

I would take one over the standard 650S for the noise of the roof scoop alone!

Feeds air to engine, similar to P1 and F1. It is functional, not merely cosmetic, although there is no performance advantage.

Cool idea, but unfortunately the execution of that idea is a bit lacking. Whoever designed it forgot to put in the curves. frown

And it can apparently now be added to the 675LT.

Only a 20k option....

Im sure man maths can be used to justify it somehow, it will be so cool to have a roof scoop, that you could proudly say was featured on the best drivers car of all time the F1 biggrin

It is rather a lot though for a cosmetic option with no apparent major benefits?

There is no performance benefit but it apparently sounds fantastic.

Surely not better than a spider which also allows you to top up your tan at the same time

Not everyone likes to be seen Rambo biggrin .... although I love the spider, for a track car that this is kind of aimed at a coupe is better imo even with the carbon tubs they have :P
Besides on a car like that Id sacrifice roof down motoring for a roof scoop and the most emotional series production mclaren yet (obviously excluding p1/f1).
Also one would have thought those that can afford the price of one of these will have at least one other vehicle in their garage with most having several - an assumption I know driving

Did a McLaren race in any category of the 24hr? I checked the entry list but couldn't see one.

No, nothing. They are too busy "performing" in F1.....

Don't get me wrong - I think it is a really great brand and desperately hope to be able to buy a 12C spyder at some point - but the cheek of producing an LM model and not even having any privateers actually racing the car (against the Astons, 458s and 911s) is a bit much.

I hope they have some cars running in it next year. Would be great to see McLaren at LM competing instead of dining out on long past successes.
