Hi all

Has anyone else noticed that the 2.7 Boxster and Cayman are almost identically priced on the configurator for base spec?

£39,553 for the Boxster
£39,694 for the Cayman

Seem to have gotten a bit addicted to the configurator recently and am close to enquiring around how much difference it would be to trade in my 987.2 for a 981.

Go for it mate, it's a stunning car, 6 months and can't stop being astonished by overall experience.

Cayman S is still £1000 more than the Boxster S. I've never understood why Porsche have tried to "position" the Cayman "above" the Boxster - surely the Boxster's roof costs a lot more to produce than the Cayman's.

Therefore more profit on the Cayman = clever Porsche.

Or less profit on the Boxster = silly Porcshe. Depends on whether they sell more Boxsters or Caymans. Most other car makers charge more for cabs because they cost them more and (presumably) the market will stand it.

If it was any other manufacturer I'd probably agree but based on the apparent margins Porsche make I think clever is the more likely scenario.
