996 GT2 performance puzzled

squeezed into the car and took it for a drive just to dust of the cobwebs.Road conditions were acceptable for some straight line drags.Either i,m too used to driving powerful cars as i found the GT2 power delivery to be progressive not outrageous etc. The car felt stable and controllable through some fast bends.
i need a second opinion is it me, is the car putting out 610bhp,i,m puzzled as a lot of bad publicity about widow maker etc, didnt take the car above 6k rpm but car is very driveable
nice power delivery spun up in 5th gear at around 5k so theres something out there . then jumped into my supercharged griff 500 V8 plenty of torq lot of noise (nice noise.both cars are good , porsche gets things done quitely remembering that you need to use the box more its a nice progressive power delivery with a kick in the arse at around 5k. i reckon above 80 it will leave the griff begging.
next week i,ll have it round to jasmine porsche for his opinion and will post it.
Seat should arrive in next 8-10days then some fettling to be done, much supported with the sound encouragemnt from slippy diff( get ya fing finger out)

Just a thought. Once you have warmed the car up, were you keeping above 3,500 rpm on your drive?

I used to have an X50 996 Turbo. I find that if I change up and the revs drop below 2,500 rpm, the car feel a little sluggish to start of with. If the revs only drop to 3,500 rpm, then it feels a lot faster.

Also bearing in mind that you lose some of the turbo boost during a gear change when the clutch is dipped, it takes a little time for the boost to re-build up again, even if you are over 3,500 rpm.

Needs a full tank of Shell V Power, then get the turbos and manifolds really hot, by that I mean not just a few squirts up through 1st,2nd & 3rd gears, but some proper pulls in the higher gears. If you've done it you'll find the lag gone and the timing will have adapted (if the car's been run on poor fuel and pottered around town, the system will have adapted and pulled the timing).
If it doesn't feel fast then, it's either losing boost (or not producing it) as it should make your TVR feel pedestrian in the mid range.

Very true, but when you're pulling those sort of speeds in higher gears its not license loosing territory its Porridge time, straight up to 150+

had an inkling it's down to that probably last time it was driven proper was probably by huffie I'll look for shell v power then need to get it on a wide open track

If the TVR's got a PD blower on it then it would be difficult to compare it to the GT2.
The 2's are smooth, gathering speed without fuss or scrabbling for grip and the gearing is just right. (Although I find first a little tall.)
The TVR's going to be animal.
