TR6 Engine tuner in North West ?
Discussion
Try Nigel Bancroft at Stalybridge MOT station, near Manchester, he has over 30 years experience of TR5's/6', Spitfires, GT6's, and has built a BRAND new TR5 from new parts a few years ago......
He is an old mate of mine, has had more TR6's than I care to remember, races Formula 3 cars in his spare time, and really knows his stuff......
Tell him Alan H recommended him.....

I think his workshop is in Bayley Street Stalybridge, off memory........
Even if he can not help you with the "tuning" aspect, I am sure he will know a man who will, he is a minefield of information about TR's and a very friendly guy, his Dad used to have a new Triumph TR agency in the fifties and sixties........
Good luck.
Alan
Jon wood at Classic racecraft, maunby, thirsk. he is simply the best engine builder if you can afford him. His car engines are the ones winning the TR Register championship. He also builds excellent road engines.
As a second, speak to jon at TR Bitz in Warrington. He can guide you as to what works and doesn't on a nice road car either on carbs or PI. He also farms all of his machining work out to Beaufields in warrington (A well respected aston martin engine builders)
You won't beat these two guys in the North.
To anyone else, ask who does the machining. an engine is only as good as the guy on the machine??
180bhp is as much as you will get at the rear wheels in a road car to maintain reliability. Don't belive some ot the bull going around re-power outputs.
Neil.

Depends if you drive your racer on the Road!
Mate has the full TR6 built for Paul Dingle (ex-Partner of Woody) and this makes 230bhp (~270bhp at the flywheel)at the wheels on the well respect Hi-Spec rollers in Birmingham.
My 4 makes 218bhp on the same rollers (245 - 250bhp).
But yes 180 at the wheel is good for a road car, but 200 at the wheels easily acheivable with good drivabliity.
