At the Precise! moment that I decided to test out the cerbera horn on a deserted street, whilst parked up at the side of the road with Crazy Dave (a radio-mad mate of mine, who had jumped out of his motor and was running about like a headless chicken waving antennas all over the place looking for a signal)... a police car went by.
Another 'story' ... I was trying to pull into a lane yesterday, and my girlfriend chirped up "Push in, you've got a flash car, people wont want to let you in" This suprised me, coming from her and also because I regarded TVR's as cool. Not flash. An enthusiasts car, I suppose. And Im a humble driver as it goes.
Ive wondered before, the notion likely shrouded by egotism, or different experiences, but how do people, including the bib react to your cerberas?
Im sure I read a post or two along the lines of coppers being sympathetic towards us, understanding we have louder cars, oft showing interest in our beloveds rather than seeking a booking.
Equally I assumed the same from the public, Ive always admired TVR's, but so much when fezzas go by - in the minds of many are thoughts of to$$er can easily arise, not so?

Lots of attention...and so far just about the right kind of attention. No jealousy showed as yet - stories of keyings etc are quite common i believe.
When i was thinking of buying i nipped to a garage and a customers blue cerb was in...wing was hand painted!!! He had re-sprayed it that many times to have it vandalised again, he resorted to doing it himself - extreme but not the sort of attention you want!!!
Coppers always have a little look...not been pulled yet - which surprises me somewhat!!! especially as i always get her to pop when one is close by!! Why i have this urge i am not sure!

Slow moving queues each way, and a pair of rather stern chaps in their Volvo T5 panda car going the opposite way. The eyeballed me, and I just glanced at them, and then throttled up to move forward. Came to a rest alongside them, and as I came off the pedal had a wonderful rendition of the AJP Symphony No2.
The two dour coppers roared with laughter, and the driver wound down his window:
"Go on, do that again - just don't tell anyone we told you too!"

A mixed bunch of experiences, I'd say...
Had the usual "nice car mister"s, and plenty of other memorable encounters, but have had some pretty lousy moments, too...
1. Had the Cerb hit/kicked/stones/kebabs(!) thrown at it by a drunken townie she-whore. Whilst the police across the road laughed and ignored it.
2. Had the Cerb pelted with eggs (which scratched all the paintwork down one side) by local yoofs (in a supposedly safe residential parking area).
3. Got stopped by the police going through the town centre on a Saturday night for it making too much noise... apparently it'd wake all the locals up. The locals that live in the apartments directly above the pub with music blaring out.
To be honest, wouldn't have minded that excuse too much if they wanted to check my paperwork, etc. However, was NOT impressed that they directed me to pull over into the top of a side-street (they pointed to the spot to pull in), then slapped a fine on me for going through a no-entry sign to pull in there (was a 1 way street). Nothing against the police but some people, regardless of profession, are absolute cnts.

Jeez mate, youve had it rough. I read your other posts about the drunken whorebeast lobbing kebabs at the car, much to the amusement of the local constabluary you pointed out, had no idea they did nothing about it though.

Just don't start me on having to take the previous owner of my Tusc to court over misrepresenting its details. Or the 6 months it's spent off the road between April and now!
To be honest, it really is character building. And I've learnt a few things from owning these Tivs, too. 1. Patience is a virtue. 2. Move away from Huddersfield. 3. It's only a car. And it's only money.

I've only ever had positive reactions.
Once had a really good chat with some BIB's at a Optimax station. They were really interested in the car-asking loads of questions etc. On leaving one of them said
"Give it loads when you leave-besides there's no way were catching you in that (pointing at his Fiesta panda car)"

when i bought mine, i did'nt think anyone
would realy know what it was but on one of
my first trips, pulled into a petrol station
down in darkest devon only to have all the
mechanics down tools and swarm all over
the car asking questions and quoting facts at me
whilst two kids on bikes rode past shouting
cool car mister. came accros the feds the
other day parked up in their volvo, on my
fav. bit of fast road. they just smiled
as if to say we know your not tearing the
arse out of it but dont go any faster. well
thats what i like to think they were thinking.

Where exactly did it happen?
Middle of blando-suburbia, Derby... Was very surprised at how easily the paint speckled (as it was a speckling where the colour had come off, not out-and-out deep scratches).
