Officers hurt in stolen car crash
Two police officers suffered whiplash when their patrol car was rammed by two stolen cars in Manchester city centre.
Officers were following a BMW on Sunday on Cross Street when it was joined by two other cars, thought to be stolen.
At a dead-end street the two BMWs and a Ford Fiesta drove towards the police car, and two crashed into it.
One of the officers got out of the car and jumped behind a wall as the BMW drove at him. His colleague was thrown out of the car with the crash impact.
The Fiesta was abandoned and the occupants got into one of the BMWs. Both cars drove off.
One was later found in Blackfriars Street, the other in Salford.

Of course...if the shites that did it had crashed themselves and been injured...the bobbies would have had lots of questions to answer;

I agree, Had the police did what they did then its going to be what?? GBH, attempt murder. And loss of response license / career.
The shites will get possibly assault police. And a shed load of street cred from their "mates"
Worst thing is probably that the public go " thats bad but i guess its part of the job"

I have to admit i do enjoy the look on peoples faces when they meet the dog units. (and thats just the handlers)

Its not just the public, its government too.
Its the minority that are most vocal in shooting us down. The majority of people i speak to would like a return to proper crime reduction. And also getting rid of the service and becomming a force again.
If the law abiding public want to go about their lives without fear then unfortuneately then we have to become a show of strength. not burocracy (sp)

I supppose I'm preaching to the converted on here..as most PH's would support BiB action against car thieves etc...
I'm talking more about the public who are quick to jump on the bandwagon when a criminal had died as a result of a police pursuit...as if the police drag the scum to the car..say "you've got 30 secs, then we're coming"..
Morning Gareth. I guessed that would be the answer. Unfortunately for yourselves, however much you may wis to you cannot act outside the Law. These scrotes probably know more about the regulatons regarding this than you do. They are the first to cry "foul" to the media if you step out of line. From what has been posted, I don`t think the situation could have been handled any differently. As you say, you do have the K9 unit for backup - no-one is going to run (far) from that.
However, it never ceases to amaze me how the owners of twoccers faourites (astra, fiesta, escort etc) don`t seem to make any effort to stop them being nicked.It doesn`t hav to be expensive - pulling a wire off under the bonnet will suffice.

Yup, you are right we cannot act outside of the law. Just a shame as in reality you want an effective tool for the job. You want a deterant for the crims. Yet human rights etc seems to give more rights to the people commiting the offences that those trying to aprihend the offenders.

This goes right down to things like i wanna nick someone for something, i am on nights, they will be at home at 4 am. I cannot go round to arrest them at that time due to human rights.

The wire off under the bonnet is far better. The scrote may gain entry to the vehicle, but he`s hardly likely to sit there turning the key for 5 minutes when it fails to start.
Back in the dim and distant past whe Minis had electric fuel pumps, I had a good sideline fitting switches to the fuel pump feed. Car would get nicked, driven for about half a mile and then it would cut out. Scrote would abandon the car rather than try to fix it.
Mother in Law used to work in a hospital and had her car stolen from the car park five times. Each time we didn`t have far to go before we found it.

I don't think that is our Gary - is it? The picture does not seem to tally with the one of Gary on his walking holiday. Different amount of hair etc., and this chap looks older than 31. Could be wrong though, as often happens.
