Interested in a particular car, but don't really like contrasting dark blue leather.
Question is, can you replace leather and how expensive is it?
Otherwise car is pretty much what I am looking for, so it seems a bit stupid to be too picky on colours, but I know later I will want it changed.
Anyone know?
Cheers.

I had exactly this problem. You'd have to change or re-upholster the seats, and replace the carpet if that's navy as well. For leather, connolising is not recommended if you want to make the leather lighter, only darker. As for the curvy vinyl bits, there are paints which claim to be suitable for this, but I haven't tried them. It might work, then again it might go horribly wrong.

When I added up the cost and realised that it wouldn't add to the value of the car, I stuck with it until I changed the car.

Can't comment on contrasting dark blue leather but would observe that very light colours are a bu??er to keep in top condition.

Do you have a photo of your car's interior, I was thinking about changing the door cards etc in my car (Portland Grey) maybe we could do a mix and match

I have just completley re-upholstered my Cerbera interior in cream leather. The original was half vinyl/leather in mushroom. It has taken about two months and about 8-10 hides (theres a lot of leather in a Cerbie).

I have got to say the result is fantastic, I have no regrets, although the girlfriend threatened to move out a few times during the two months.

Here are two piccies:

Oh I forgot the cost, about £700 all in all. TVR quote £3000 for a Cerbie. If you have a Griff or Chim it will take a lot less. If you need any more info, I'll be glad to help

Cheers

Chris,

Where did you get this done £700 is a bargin and it looks fantastic. I've just had my door cards, roof liner and rear parcel shelf done and it cost £400 from AJ triming (see back of sprint mag). I need my seat re-doing next so a contact number would be great. Hang-on, why did it take three months? Did you do it yourself? Fantastic job if you did.

Yes, I did it myself. Most pieces went OK, but it took three attempts to get the seat tops perfect. I must admit that I am a bit a perfectionist, and have improved on the original.

It is actually quite straight forward if youve got the balls. I remember thinking, what have I done when I took the covering off the dash/central tunnel cover.

Thanks guys.
I want to change the dash top and the central tunnel covers and maybe the door inserts.
Anyone done it on a Chim and know how much it costs?
Thanks.

I'm very impressed, if ever you want to practice my wedge could do with a bit of a re-trim!

That does look very professional (and smart)! My guess is you don't have kids, or you took the photos as soon as you'd finished!

Did you need any special equipment - like a heavy duty sewing machine?

How exactly do you start removing the original seat leather ? do you use these as a template for the new panels? I could do with renewing mine, but I will need much more info before I take a knife to them !!

Any suggestions on where to get the new leather ?

Cheers
