Hi

I'm thinking of buying a 993 at the moment. In the TVR world there is a very well respected guy who you can hire to check a prospective car out for you, or even to source one. Is there an equivalent in the Porsche world?

Thanks

Matthew

Peter Morgan (petermoran.org.uk) can check a car out for you. Also, very helpful with advice on the phone. I don't know if he can source one. Have a chat with him.

You can also get some excellent advice on this forum in terms of where and what to look for.

I bought a 993 last year. Haven't stopped grinning yet!

Another defector

To add to the above, it's worth doing a search of this forum as lots has been spoken about regarding this topic.

Good luck and hope you find your car soon

Good luck with your search for a 993 - they're great cars. I bought mine from RSJSportscars in Slough. They always seem to have a good selection of nice 993s and Joel is a good bloke to deal with - after sales and customer service are excellent.

I had my current car inspected by Peter Morgan www.petermorgan.org.uk/ and found his input invaluable. If a seller is evasive about an inspection, walk away. Peter may also give you some useful tips by email when you enquire.

I also owned a TVR and now defecting to my first 911. Just spoken to Peter Morgan who seems very nice and certainly helpful over the phone.

I am after a 996 C4s. Any advice on what to look for?

where to start...

In all serious search is your friend. There's been volumes posted on this and even one or two threads which haven't turned into a 993-v-996 debate.

I also know of one infamous 996 C4 which may be going up for sale in the next few days...

I used Peter Morgan to PPI my 993, and agree with the others that he's very good.

The other thing is he tries to do the PPI very quickly if your worried you might lose the car to other interested buyers. I had been seeking a good 993 for a couple of months and saw quite few that I deemed unsuitable. Then I spotted one that came up on Autotrader which sounded ideal, but the vendor was getting loads of calls and I couldn't get to it for 4 days. Peter Morgan could visit the next morning, so I sent him even though I hadn't seen the car, and he called me on his mobile straight after the inspection and confirmed the details. This gave me the confidence to buy the car over the phone and I never saw it until I arrived to pick it up.

An 8 page report from Peter arrived the same day I got the car home.

He's a top bloke, with a huge reputation, has written loads of books, contributes to 911 and Porsche World mag, and most of the specialist dealers know him.
