Probably be able to hear the other major airports if you are close to Stansted.

SS Delivery (rarely used) - 121.950 MHz
SS Ground - 121.725 MHz
SS Tower - 123.8 MHz
Essex Radar - 120.625 MHz
SS Director - 136.200 MHz
There you go. For UK aerodromes, the AIS website will give you the frequencies. www.ais.org.uk
25Kz should be fine for most frequencies, but you may find some that are closer (8.33KHz).

right , anyone able to help further?
story is someone helped me set it up and i was getting strong clear transmissions when a plane passed by, but i had to use the reset button and cleared the settings
now ive set in the freqs from the above (all seem to say same freq on all links) set to 25hrz , i punch scan and it whizzes through these freq's but im picking up almost nothing at all and its very poor volume when it is

Does your receiver have proper airband facility?story is someone helped me set it up and i was getting strong clear transmissions when a plane passed by, but i had to use the reset button and cleared the settings

I think they use AM rather than FM, and 8.333Khz frequency steps as well as 25Khz.
The IF filters of the receiver also determine the sound quality.
I have not used a scanner for years though, as now used for dust collecting.
