Wonky wipers

I got caught in a little bit of rain on the way back from work today and clicked the wiper onto intermittent.

However the wiper started parking all over the place like the centre of the screen or right in my line of sight! Then it juddered a bit and was generally going insane. I couldn't for the life of me get it to stop. After turning the ignition off and coming back to the car it seems to have corrected itself.

The previous owner mentioned something to me about them getting confused sometimes and he thought it was afault but it turned out it wasn't apparently, anyone know any more about this? and how can I stop it! thanks.

Certain cars had faulty wipers, mine were replaced (sept 01 S2) but the wipers just stopped and blew the fuse, and then every subsequent fuse after that. Seemingly due to poor parts from a supplier to Lotus.

Maybe your problem is related.

they do behave in a wierd manner, I hear the official lotus part is over £400!! I also hear its just ripped out a citroen AX true for the S2? I hope so as the go for around £40. Though wipers are behaving themselves today.
