Hi all,

I'm looking to change the colour of my calipers on my v12 Vantage from black, to red. Any recommendations or thoughts on this? Do carbon brakes need any extra consideration with regards to the work?

All input gratefully received :-)

I had mine done by AM Cardiff and have absolutely no regrets. Colour is a personal thing so not everyone may agree with your choice. I can't see it having any effect on CC brakes but do get a good job done as you will want to have the AM transfers put on etc. After a year+ mine are still looking as good as new - no flaking etc. PM if you want the bodyshop number near Cardiff.

Any dealer should be able to do it. If you don't mind getting your hands dirty you can take them off yourself and send them away for reconditioning and a colour change (which may even be less). I haven't checked if bigred and similar companies do AM Calipers but they may.

Powdercoat to red would not be a problem and the disc material will have no bearing on the change. I did mine to yellow and recently a V8V from black to red. Didn't even need to change the brake fluid, just a bleed and it's done.

Many thanks for the responses so far. What company did any of you use for the painting?

Great thanks for that, appreciated.

Re. removing the calipers: I have a friend that's a mechanic (30 years experience) - he's offered to remove them and refit for me. Anything he needs to know? Specific torque settings for bolts etc? What about the fluid - will clamping the pipes stop it draining?

Sorry for the noob questions - just trying to be thorough here :-)

I sent mine to this place
http://www.brake-caliper-painting.com
As they offer stencilling the AM logo as well. Changed mine from black to yellow.
The quality of the work was very good. But it did take longer than expected. But they were having staff issues at the time. This was back in February. I would advise phoning them to ask about turnaround time though.

Ah I've spoken to these guys - seemed decent. Did you have the logo stencilled (as opposed to decals, which I gather are just stuck on the surface?) if so was it a lot more expensive? Thanks :-)

The clue is in their website:

£145 for a pair including carriers
£249 for a set of four including carriers
