I hear the spigot bearing its a common prob on the Monaro...what is average mileage for them to go pop and has anybody done decent miles and not replaced it.

Mine failed at around 80k but IIRC there have been posts on here of them failing a lot sooner than that.

MF replaced mine last year as a precaution whilst the gearbox was out for the clutch slave cylinder, apparently in average condition with around 89k on it

Inho replace both spigot and slave cylinder every time you remove the gearbox or change a clutch.

I Win! I screwed my gearbox at 40k hehe

But to be fair that had nothing to do with the Spigot bearing and everything to do with a death rattle in 5th. One day of hard driving at Thunder Road killed that box off with lethal efficiency laugh

What are the symptoms noise wise? I have a whinning noise usually in 5th or 6th. Sometimes it stops if I dip the clutch but not everytime. It's not everytime I drive the car that it happens

Hiya, If that was directed at me it's a very pronounced shake from the gear lever in 5th and low whine when under WOT. For info this was on a stock T56 box with a ls7 clutch in a Monaro.

My bearing went at around 55K, no damage but I stopped driving as soon as it made a noise.

Mine was fine at 80,000 miles when I had MF change it as a precaution, apparently it was right on the edge of going bad. Had it done again as a precaution at 130,000 miles.
