Sorry if I'm being dumb. I can add percentages but can never work backwards. Good job I'm not VAT registered.

I have an old PEP now ISA taken out back in 1996. Cost £6000 and now worth, as of today, £16,445.

What would be the average yearly interest be over the 19 year period? Have I beaten inflation, at least?

Cheers.

Better than nothing but I presume that is not brilliant for 20 years. It did crash at one point and was only worth the same as I put in after about several years.

Thanks for working it out. Cheers.

In excel (the easy way) =RATE(19,,-6000,16445).
Gives you only one sig fig by default but blow it up.

Or =(16445/6000)^(1/19)-1
