Struggling to find anywhere that lists which GT supercars have enough space to fit a rear-facing child seat in the back. Front facing for older kids is easy (which would fit in a sports car e.g. 911) but rear facing takes up a lot of seat depth (e.g. definitely doesnt fit in back of 911). UK recommends you keep baby rear facing until 9 months but US is 2 years and other EU countries 4 years old (although I cant imagine how their legs fit). So with the prospect of upto 2 years rear facing, possibility of more little ones after that and wanting to keep my children safe as possible, I have the option of family car + supercar, or both (which has the added benefit of being able to take either away)

So which Supercar GTs do I have to choose from? Ferrari California rear seats looks way too small. What about Maserati GranTurismo? Ferrari FF? Any of them?

here is an old thread about a car seat in a Cali

Ferrari have a isofix base on their website, which I can assume can be used for a standard rear-facing stage one car seat.

My Z4MC has isofix in the front and passenger airbag deactivation so you could fit a rear facing seat in the front. Probably a few four seat GTs where you could put the seat in the front if your other passengers didn't mind being in the back.

Theyll easily fit in the front guys - I'm talking about fitting rear facing seat in the back so me and the wife can sit in the front (sorry should have been more specific). Sportscar wise, there definitely isnt room in back of any 911 for a rear facing seat and in case of many supercars the space seems less - Cali seats in back are tiny and quite upright (not enough depth to fit it in).

The better question might be - what Supercar GT has the largest and deepest rear seats

Larger cars if you want decent rear room, three that come to mind that would be worth checking Maserati Granturismo, Porsche Panamera and maybe the Aston Rapide

I have the same situation, plus I am also 6'7" tall, so really struggle for room behind me.

When there were 3 of us we ran a Maserati Granturismo quite happily. Also second the idea of a Panamera, I found the back one of the largest I've seen in a sporty car. It's not a supercar, but I just test drove an M3/M4 and the rear was surprisingly bigger than I expected. I'm sure it would be better still in say a 6 series Gran Coupe.

Imagine an FF would have enough room, no?

we've been 4-up in my father-in-law's FF no problem, both of us are 6'2 and there was plenty of room in the back while we were comfortable up-front. Pretty sure it has isofix bars in the rear too.

You would get a rear facing seat in there for fun.

Maserati GranTurismo works well with car seats, plenty of room in the back and a half decent boot given it is a coupe. It also looks and sounds superb and does the cross continent GT thing incredibly well.

I don't get on with the looks of the Panamera but clearly has a significant amount of space in the back, although I see it more as a Quattroporte competitor. The Rapide is interesting, lovely looking car reasonable amount of space in the back but just doesn't appeal as much as a Maserati, although I get why people would buy one. If I had the cash I would certainly look at the FF, amazing performance and incredible practicality, plus very rare. Good luck with your choice.

The Panamera is not a supercar so should not be part of this discussion wink The Maserati Granturismo has loads of space in the back - I've had 4 adults in the car without any issues whatsoever. Having owned a 6 series, XKR and DB9 the GTS had the most room out of all of them and even more room than an M3 coupe.

Rear space is one thing, getting a rear facing car seat out of a two door car is another. You'll also need a seat the slides forward a decent amount and the drop forward space, see how long this takes. Plus enough space to open the door wide enough to get the seat out once the front seat is out of the way.

Word of caution on the FF - you cannot put a rear facing seat in the passenger seat without having the dealer disable the front airbags (there no method to do it yourself). But rear facing seats do fit fine in the back...

I wouldn't really call any of these super cars. Do you mean just a high performance GT car?

If you want a super car then get a proper 2 seat, mid engined super car - and buy a truck for the family!
