Cant see it helping much as the chassis isnt a continuous tube of metal so the wax would not penetrate very far.
Id probably do the external parts if it were me with a couple of coats of a quality product from dinitrol or bilt hamber.
Make sure any major surface corrosion is removed and painted first.

Yes I did this. Used plenty of well diluted black waxoil that I was trying to use up. Managed to do 100% of the lower rails using the body bolt holes at each end and the exhaust mounting plate holes. Also had a go at the top rails going in through the bolt holes at the back end, again putting in plenty of well diluted waxoil in the hope that it would run down the inside of the top rails once the car was driven downhill.
However, dont over dilute the waxoil, as you might discover it will tend to seep out of the bolt holes, even when the body and exhaust are replaced and stain your nice newly prepped chassis as well as drip on the garage floor.
