Cerbera 4.0 Speed6 - Does Anyone Know This Car...
Discussion
Hi All,
Been using PistonHeads site for years to search out tips on other cars that I was running/ working on but thought it was about time I actually joined and got involved now I'm (finally) at a point that I can buy one my top dream cars... TVR Cerbera.
In short I was hoping for some help with a specific vehicle. Decided to go down the 4.0 Speed6 route (various reasons I wont go in to), have found one local-ish to me via a known TVR specialist dealer and service centre. Have had a very quick glance over it (they were closing when I arrived in the middle of the day!) but going back to have a full inspection and test drive this weekend.
Just wondered if anyone knows the car from years gone by, any technicians that may have worked on it, former owners, etc that can maybe shed some light and background on this one and if it's any good? Reg is T592AJW, silver '99 car, spider alloy upgrade but standard headlight, last owner for about 8/9 years and dried stored and SWORN since 2011, TVR garage selling it have looked after it and worked/serviced it for years and seems like it could be a good-un.... Am I wrong?
Body work is very tidy with only a few light and expected marks/stone chips, earlier interior but no major snags/rips or anything. Didn't get to give the chassis and out riggers a proper detailed check but from first glance seem ok, they're not perfect either but I have seen much worse so looks to have a few years may be until any major works chassis/out riggers wise are needed. Mechanically I cant comment as haven't even seen her running yet and need to delve into any rebuilds and changes/upgrades she's had.
If anyone does know this car at all or has seen it and decided against it, I would be very grateful if you could let me know. Not afraid of one that needs some good old fashioned TLC to get her back to former (if not better) glory but do want to know if I'm wasting too much of my budget at the start with the purchase and not holding enough back to spend on it over the next year or 2.
Many thanks
Tom

I dont know the car but if you tell us what garage it's coming from then we may be able to have a look or give some advice, someone local may go and have a look at it for you, we are nice like that.
Or , if you're down south I'm near to the dartford bridge if you want to have a look a my SP6 and go for a drive!

Thanks DaveTVR, it's up with a TVR specialist in St.Neots, Cambridgeshire (Offord Motor Company). I'm in Bedfordshire so was pleased to find one locally now the full on search has started and can physically put the cash down. Been keeping an eye out on what's been coming up and what's sold in recent months months knowing I would be able to make my purchase come early summer (albeit bad timing as prices come back up as it gets warmer).
Seeing the car this weekend for a proper looking over and test drive.
This ones been off the road for some years but seemed very well maintained, still thinking its a bit steep for one that hasn't actually been used for 3/4 years given there's a V8 half the other way that's also been off the road for about 2 yrs but I know that needs full brakes all round including front calipers, chassis needs doing and a few little electrics but that's very well priced.
Any special bits or work or signs of needing work you personally recommend for SP6's Dave? Read all the buyers guides, driven a few over the last couple of months and been TVR made since I was about 8 and went in my uncles wedge but still having not owned one first hand myself yet I'm at the mercy of this well informed forum... All suggestions welcome.
Thanks mate, will let you know how the test drive goes and do a road trip to Dartford one sunny day
