I've sold my 2008 eGear and looking to get an early LP. Has anyone done similar? Seems to be a difference of £20k+ and just wondering whether the change up is worth it.

Huge difference in gearbox and car feeling fragile in comparison to LP imo.

if all you do is a very intense b road blast every now and then, then no, not worth it.... as a daily, lp wipes the floor.....

I now have an lp having come from a my08..... the sound is different due to the direct injection..... pre lp better 3-4k, like a v8, I'm talking on a stock exhaust btw, but lp louder at lower revs.... as topjay says, lp gearbox much better and smoother, even around town....

now, personally, if I got a lp, id get a 2wd Gallardo, the loss of the front diff makes the steering lighter and better, yes ultimate grip might be less but its way more fun..... best of them all is the annversario as it has the alcantara interior as well as being 2wd..... but they are much much more.....

Needs to be a Spyder and fancy something other than Black this time around. I've yet to drive one but I expect the gearbox to be the biggest improvement. These are examples of what I'd look at due to budget restraints. Unusually there is a 2wd available at the moment.

Motorhub as usual have some cheap LPs available but I tend to ignore their ads now.

Well I had a 2008 5.0 Spyder living with me for a few months side by side with my 2008 LP560 and that what it felt like to me, it didn't break though nor did anything go wrong it just felt like it was going to in comparison. Everything on the 560 just felt more solid.

If you ask any of the Lambo service departments, you will find the later Lp cars virtually never need any work, however they quite often see the 5.0 between services. I've not owned a G for several years now, but that was my experience with them.

and not even a Superleggera....but apart from that it's nice.

Having driven both, I don't think there is much difference between non-LP cars and LP cars apart from a touch more power and the better gearbox. My 2008 pre-LP car feels very solid and not fragile at all.

I have had to visit the dealer between services however. But that was because coins keep falling out of my passengers pockets and ending up sliding around inside the carbon bucket seats making a lot of noise, and the only way to get them back out seems to be to remove the seats.

I now tell my passengers to empty their pockets of change before getting in the car.

I drove a new BMW M4 Conv last week with 1200 miles on it that had more creaks and rattles than my old G! Anyone know either of those white LPs?

I don't mean literally fragile btw, just comparatively if you were asking the difference. Aventador of which I had an early one was similar in that feel to 5.0 imo. I also prefer DFI as to how the engine runs more smoothly in Lp, but it does ruin the sound a bit. Lp significantly more economical as well if that makes a difference.

They are all good cars and I'm sure whatever you get you'll be happy with.

Have to agree with topjay, lp cars do feel more solid and refined... Pre lp are solid too, mine was perfect over three years with nil needed..

can't say that i've noticed that much difference between lp and earlier, other than the muted noise of the lp making it feel more refined

The LP had a lot of changes....http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/lamborghini/gallardo/first-drives/lamborghini-gallardo-lp560-4

The reason it might not feel that different, though this article suggests otherwise, is because andrew you are comparing it to a superlegover and the base gallardo was a good car anyways.

Craig at Lambo Pangbourne had a 570-4 Arancio Borealis Performante available a few days ago. Looked beautiful but was over my budget when we put the figures together. It's off to a new home now anyway so someone's going to enjoy summer.
