What about the E888 engine used in other VAG cars - Golf Gti, Leon, Octavia etc?

The tv guide said premium car brand and oil consumption, funnily enough the only brand that came to mind was Audi.

The other thought in head was wkers!!

The norm is apparently 1 litre of oil for 600 miles!

This is for the 2.0T.

The Audi norm quoted is 0.5 litre per 600 miles (or 1000 km) which is stupid of course but what they say. However I know three people with the TFSI engine in 2.0 and 1.8 form, in Audi A3, VW Golf Gti and Seat Cupra R and all say they go 3 to 5 thousand miles between a top-up and that is only 0.5 ltr.

The cars above are transverse engines 'East/West', the one having the problem are A4, A5 and Q5 with 'North/South' layout.

Most modern cars should do 10k miles on about 4.5L of quality oil.

Like the way they had Helen Fospero yumunder the bonnet, I like a woman that knows her way around an engine bay.

Almost entirely but we've a member on here currently with an Octavia 1.8T needing piston ring surgery.

A couple of 1.8T A3 (transverse) owners on audi-sport.net have also had the problem. At least one had a free rebuild (Pistons/rods) to fix it.

My RS3 is running around that. I've had to top it up twice since I got it 8000 miles ago. I do drive it pretty hard though.
