Had Shaun finish mapping the Chim today, (can't recommend him enough to anyone by the way) and the injectors are 100% at about 6k.
Not really an issue because it's rare that i'll be going above there anyway as theres no point. Not dangerous according to Shaun as AFR is still fine and limiter is set to 6400rpm.
But I want to go force induction in the not too distant future I think and am wondering what injectors people are upgrading to?
Mine are Vectra ones currently so according to the specs 250cc

Weird, I ran Vectra injectors up to 330ish bhp and I'm sure they weren't at 100%

Yep. My Vectras are coping with 300bhp and plenty left but i`m running a 3.5 bar regulator.

I suspect with FI tho you will need a lot bigger or at least a rising regulator.

This ^ I have calculated that my 1588/Vectra inj at 3BAR will give me a buffer wink I was running them at 3BAR prior to engine work and I had to rescale my Megasquirt VE table by a small amount and my inj duty cycle was agreeable how this changes with the new motor who knows? one certanty it wont be better on fuel I'll tell you that laugh .................... whistle

at the minute it's just the standard fuel rail/reg which i'm guessing is 3bar?

They very seldom go wrong so S/H is fine and this is a tidy one (always renew the O ring though) its a direct fit, but dont just fit it better off doing that at the RR otherwise it will be rich everywhere your fuel table will need fuel pulling out or you can rescale via "required fuel/Injector flow" by telling it you now have higher flowing inj's http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E30-E28-3SERIES-81-8...

I used bosch red top originally on nicks blown chim they had to run up to 120% which was ok made 330 bhp but upted the pressure with a smaller blower wheel and the injectors just couldnt supply the fuel so fitted a set of bosch green giant 440cc now it only runs around 70% so good control lots in hand no weakening off at the top end.

If you work out your bhp requirements and then factor in another 20% head room you'll be safe. Then look for an injector with a similar body shape.

The duty cycle should not exceed 80% when choosing an injector. I believe this is due (although I could be wrong) in possibly overheating the coil in the injector and reduced accuracy. On my 4.0sc I started with the Bosch reds which I found on the standard 2.5bar regulator was insufficient. I could have changed to a 3bar regulator and I suspect it would have been fine. Instead I opted for the Bosch green giants, these work well on 2.5bar reg and are able to fulfill the engine's requirements at full load and engine speed. In summary, if you are going FI go for green giants, if modified NA the Bosch reds will be fine. If you want the part numbers get back to me. Both injector types are best bought from USA, a lot cheaper there.

I think from 2.5 to 3 bar gives around 10% more fuel . I would go for the genuine 3 bar Bosch non adjustable regulator.

thanks everyone I've ordered that BMW 3 bar one. I want to get a power run done soon at Julez/Jools how ever you spell it. I'll ask him if he can adjust the map to suit even though he doesn't like doing Megasquirt normally.

If you have spent all hat time and money getting it mapped why bother ?

Its not that simple mapping after fitting larger injectors .
