Help!

After deciding to give my TT the winter off, I've had no end of problems since putting her back on the road! Most of these I have fettled but the big thing now is the alarm. it keeps going off for no reason. I have scanned it using VCDS and am getting an alarm trigger from block 15 (ignition switch?). after clearing this I checked the interior sensor sensitivity and reduced this from 100% (breathe if you dare) to a more realistic 60%. I have also fitted a replacement alarm siren unit with new batteries. This issue is now preventing me being able to use the car, so any ideas what could be going wrong anyone?

Does it go off if you put the keys in and turn the ignition on? Will it actually start? Does it turn over but wont fire with the key warning light on the dash? Mk4 golf platform cars had known problems with the keycode reader which is part of the ignition barrel. Im not saying it is that, but it could be.

Could be the battery backup in the siren has died, this will result in random triggering but as the siren cannot be investigated by diagnostics, no fault will show up. The batteries can be replaced, google should find a guide on how to do this.

I've changed the siren for a new OE one, and it starts and drives fine, it's only when I lock it up there's an issue!
